It's just another week on the charts for BTS...but that doesn't mean it's not important.
Jungkook, Suga, V, and RM of BTS perform onstage during 102.7 KIIS FM's Jingle Ball 2019 Presented by Capital One at the Forum on December 6, 2019 in Los Angeles, California. BTS has started hinting that a new era may begin at some point in the first half of 2020, but they haven’t revealed anything concrete when it comes to new music...though fans are on their toes, as they know such an announcement could arrive at any time.
While they may not be promoting anything new at the moment, that doesn’t mean the biggest name in K-pop isn’t present on the charts this week. In fact, while they are enjoying what has become a fairly normal frame for them on the ranking of the most-consumed musical titles in the U.S., this would be a historic feat if any other figure in their field had done the same.
The septet currently owns two spots close to the bottom of the Billboard 200. That might not sound like much , but for musicians in their genre, that’s unheard of. In an amazingly show of coordinated streaming and buying by BTS fans in the U.S., two of the group’s most successful releases return to the Billboard 200 at the same time. First up is, which reappears at No. 170. Just a few spots below that former chart-topper comes another, more recent leader,BTS remains the only K-pop act to own more than one spot on the Billboard 200 at one time, and that’s a feat they’ve actually bested, as they once chartered a trio of efforts simultaneously.
The seven members of BTS have now become so successful in the U.S. that what would be a momentous occasion for anyone else in the space they occupy is now just another week on the charts for them, and that’s an incredible place for them to be at in their careers.
