Brush fire in Mexico crosses border into San Diego County [Breaking]

A brush fire that ignited Wednesday and scorched hundreds of acres near Tecate had crept over U.S.-Mexico border Thursday and burned about four acres in San Diego County, Cal Fire officials said.

As of 6:30 p.m., the fire had burned remote vegetation and was threatening homes off Tecate Mission Road near Tecate Road, in an area just north of the international border near Tecate, Cornette said.No mandatory evacuation orders are in place, but people at two residences near Tecate Mission Road had left voluntarily as of 6:30 p.m, Cornette said. An evacuation shelter was set up at Mountain Empire High School on Buckman Springs Road, west of Interstate 8.
