The Brooklyn City Schools Board of Education race features four candidates vying for three seats -- incumbents Rocky Neale and Bonnie Bartczak along with Karam Hasrouni and Alison Rafter.
Hasrouni remains on the ballot despite recently being appointed to fill a vacancy due to Rick Cyngier’s recent resignation. That term expires at the end of 2025.
If Hasrouni is elected, he’ll choose that term expiring in 2027 with the Board of Education in early 2024 appointing a new member. The four-year term finds board members earning $125 per meeting with total annual compensation capped at $5,000.Serving the Brooklyn community on the School Board has been an honor and privilege these past 14 years. The success of our students and community is my top priority. I want to continue our work to make Brooklyn City Schools one of the best school systems in the state. My wife and I have four beautiful children in the district.
