Despite James only experiencing one season with the Trojans, he entered the draft as the No. 55 prospect, according to ESPN's top 100 best available players.During his time with the Trojans, James averaged 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists in 19 minutes a game.James was kept on limited minutes after he suffered cardiac arrest in July 2023. After collapsing during practice, it was revealed that the young prospect had a congenital heart defect that is treatable.
