Equipment maker JCB’s facility will add more jobs to the fast-growing South Side, which is teeming with residential and retail construction.

British construction and agricultural equipment maker JCB plans to begin construction on its factory in San Antonio in early 2025, adding to the swell of manufacturing facilities, single-family houses, apartments and stores on the city’s fast-growing South Side . The company expects to start work on the facility at 13210 Palo Alto Road in February and finish it in October 2026, according to a recent filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.

Methodist Healthcare may be eyeing expansion on South Side with its acquisition of 9 acres there “Texas is an obvious choice for our new North American manufacturing facility, not least because the state is the largest consumer of construction equipment in the USA.

Britain’s JCB to open manufacturing plant in San Antonio, hire 1,500; ‘impact will be far reaching’ Investors are expecting suppliers to set up shop near International. San Antonio-based Merit Commercial Real Estate plans to build an industrial park next to International’s facility with up to seven buildings totaling 1.1 million square feet and is targeting suppliers to the company, which produces diesel and electric trucks.

San Antonio’s growing South Side campus welcomes record enrollment and a new home court City leaders also are trying to improve infrastructure in the area. They plan to ask state lawmakers for assistance building a 15-mile thoroughfare that would connect Interstate 35 and Interstate 37. The roadway’s precise path and cost have yet to be determined, but a preliminary map proposes having it run near International’s, Toyota’s and JCB’s facilities as well as a TJ Maxx distribution center.
