Pittsford school and town officials and Thornell Road Elementary School students cut the ribbon Tuesday, May 12, 2026 on a new stretch of the Mendon-Thornell sidewalk.
Pittsford, N.Y. — Our Bright Spot shines on a new walkway to help students and families safely get around in Pittsford. Town and school officials, along with Thornell Road Elementary students, celebrated the completion Tuesday of a new stretch of the Mendon-Thornell sidewalk. The 3,500-foot path stretches from Thornell Farm Park along Mendon Road, turning east on Thornell Road and ending at Oak Meadow Trail.
It connects surrounding neighborhoods, schools and parks. The new path also creates a fully connected walkway from Thornell to the village of Pittsford. Walkability is central to the quality of life and to the commercial success of Pittsford – for both the Town and the Village," Town Supervisor Bill Smith said in a statement.
