Warm and windy today, with a mild weekend ahead.
INDIANAPOLIS — The forecast of windy and warmer was verified this afternoon and evening in central Indiana. Temperatures have reached, and eclipsed in some areas, 60° courtesy of early day sun and a stiff southwesterly breeze that's been gusting to near/above 30 mph.
High level clouds increasing on schedule too and this layer is expected to thicken and lower some in the coming hours. This"blanket" of clouds insolates the heating from today, and combined with the continued breezy southwest wind, and keeps temperatures well in the 50s this evening duringgames. Though cloudy, we don't expect any precipitation due to a relatively dry air at the surface.
But as the day progresses we're expecting a gradual decrease in cloud cover and return to the 60s Saturday afternoon. However, the passage of that front delivers a chillier start Sunday morning as the wind from the north drops lows into the 30s to near 40°.The flow off of Lake Michigan may also produce a deck of lake effect cloud cover early Sunday before a mainly sunny conditions prevail the remainder of the day.
The warmest day of the extended forecast still appears to be on Monday when highs near/exceed 70° on another breezy set-up. Some showers are possible Monday into Election Day with modeling hinting of a bigger surge of rain Tuesday night into Wednesday.
