Several Hill Country counties have seen an upswing in confirmed cases of the rabies virus this year.

City officials in Boerne are cautioning residents after a dead fox recently tested positive for rabies. Authorities found the animal near the Cibolo Crossing area after a fox was observed behaving unusually, according to a city release. Boerne Animal Care Services supervisor Stafanie Fisher said residents should remain careful around local wildlife and take steps to protect themselves and their pets.
