Multiple dogs were seized from a property one day after a dead body was found nearby off Ricker Road on Jacksonville’s Westside.

Coffman was well-known among his neighbors and a daily customer at the Daily Stop convenience store. He was also known for allowing unhoused people to stay in this home as a way to extend a helping hand. Neighbors considered the dogs that were seized as a nuisance. They told News4JAX that the dogs regularly left the property and attacked people who were walking or bicycling.
They said the dogs would also follow behind cars driving through the neighborhood. Two women who knew Coffman said the dogs attacked them, and another woman was sent to the hospital following a dog attack involving more than one dog on the same road.It’s unclear if these are the same dogs that were seized.
News4JAX learned that animal control was contracted to investigate more than one time but could not do anything for the situation because there was no proof the dogs were the same dogs causing problems.“At this time, we do not know the circumstances of the incident or of the relationships of those involved.”
