Why Flagler Health+ joined UF Health

When deciding which health care system was going to take over the mission of Flagler Health+, board chairman Todd Neville said it was all about who could do the most for the residents of St. Johns and Flagler counties.. Neville said it was a tough choice because there were"a lot of great proposals." But ultimately the board decided that no one could offer more overall benefits than UF Health.

Neville, who is a small business owner and former city commissioner, said he knows there are concerns in the community about the top health care system in St. Augustine being turned over to another organization. That agreement was one of many things that helped the Flagler board feel comfortable with the new arrangement, Neville said.

Assuming the final details of the acquisition can be ironed out as expected, Neville said it will probably be about six months before anything noticeable changes.
