Blinken met with PRC Director of the CCP Central Foreign Affairs Office Wang Yi in Jakarta, Indonesia, for 90 minutes, and the hack was one of the subjects they touched on, Bloomberg reported.
"The threat actor Microsoft links to this incident is an adversary based in China that Microsoft calls Storm-0558," Microsoft's statement said."We assess this adversary is focused on espionage, such as gaining access to email systems for intelligence collection. This type of espionage-motivated adversary seeks to abuse credentials and gain access to data residing in sensitive systems.
Rep. Elise Stefanik accused Blinken of"legitimizing the CCP's aggressive behaviors in the process" of his trip to China last month.
