President Joe Biden visited the site of Baltimore's Francis Scott Key Bridge on Friday.

"I'm here to say, your nation has your back, and I mean it. Your nation has your back," Biden told local officials and recovery workers. "My vow is that we will not rest ... until the cement has dried on the entirety of a new bridge."

The White House sent an official request to Congress asking for authorization to cover the full cost of rebuilding the bridge. Biden thanked first responders for their efforts and later was scheduled to meet with family members of the six workers killed in the bridge disaster.Six construction workers are believed to have fallen from the collapsing bridge into the frigid waters of the Patapsco River. The bodies of two of the missing workers have since been recovered, while four remain unaccounted for and are presumed dead, officials said.

Jean-Pierre has discussed new efforts by the government to help support the local economy amid recovery.
