Nearly half of voters said they do not want to see a rematch between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump and would consider voting for a third-party candidate if there is one.

A NewsNation and Decision Desk HQ poll showed that 23.38% of voters said they are very likely to consider a third-party candidate if there is a rematch between Biden and Trump in 2024, while 25.67% said they are somewhat likely to consider voting for a third-party candidate. When asked about various possible third-party candidates for the 2024 presidential election, 20.60% said they would most likely vote for Sen. Bernie Sanders , 10.25% said they would vote for former Wyoming GOP Rep.

Biden is the most likely Democratic nominee for president in 2024, with very little challenge in the primary, whereas Trump leads a crowded Republican primary field. Another finding in the poll is the continued unpopularity of Biden, with 54.24% of those surveyed saying they either somewhat or strongly disapprove of the president's job performance.

The survey also asked whom voters would like to see as a running mate for Trump if he is the Republican nominee in 2024. The most popular person for the role was former Vice President Mike Pence, 15.26%, followed by Sen. Tim Scott , 13.08%, and former Republican South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, 11.58%.With more than a year until the 2024 election, voters in the survey are not optimistic about the path the country is headed down, with 70.

The lack of optimism about the country lines up with other polls, which also show voters' faith in the direction of the country as very low.
