Biden stumbles over old age question and has wild gaffe about his control over nukes. READ:

Biden launched his 2024 reelection bid Tuesday morning, but took a question Wednesday afternoon from a reporter who pointed out that seven in 10 Americans believe he should bow out."What do you say to them?" the reporter asked."What do you say to those Americans who are watching and aren't convinced?"

Biden gave a long response pointing to job growth since he took office and the dangers of former president Donald Trump, but said age shouldn't be a factor. "I can't even say the number," Biden said about his age."It doesn't register with me. But the only thing I can say is that one of the things that people are going to find out is, they're going to see a race, and they are going to judge whether or not I have it or don't have it."

He acknowledged that his approval ratings are between 42% and 46% but said those figures are normal for a sitting president and repeated the campaign slogan that he has to finish the job.At 80, Biden is already the nation's oldest-ever president, and he'd be 86 at the end of a second term. He said he's considered his age as well, and determined that he's ready for a second term.

"I feel good, I'm excited about the prospects, and I think we're on the verge of really turning the corner the way we haven't in a long time," he said.
