Berkeley restaurant owner, Collin Doran, makes sure those who are hungry are fed, providing a free breakfast to patrons who can't pay. He calls it his “Everybody Eats” program, and he's received a community award for his acts of kindness.

Doran was nominated and chosen for the award by members of his own community, who praised the restaurant owner for taking action to help those experiencing food insecurity, especially when the COVID-19 pandemic hit.

Collin Doran, owner of Homemade Cafe in Berkeley, Calif., as been recognized for the Chris Kindness Award for the month of May.Doran grew up in Berkeley, and was a regular patron of Homemade Cafe which has been around since 1979. Homemade Cafe promised to serve "only the best," fresh, local ingredients with the goal of dishing out "great food with love and care."
