A 56-year-old woman in Belgium chose to be euthanized this week, exactly 16 years after she slit her five young children's throats at their home.

Lhermitte tried to kill herself after the murders but failed and called emergency services for help. Genevieve Lhermitte, 56, decided to be euthanized in Belgium exactly 16 years after she murdered all five of her children who were between 3 and 14 years old.In 2019, she was moved into a psychiatric hospital.
Nearly 3,000 people were euthanized in Belgium last year with terminal cancer being the most common reason.
