The Batavia Public Library’s Books Between Bites program will return this fall for its 35th season and will feature nine monthly programs and a wide range of local speakers and authors, organizers said.
The public is invited to attend the programs, which will run from September through May, on the third Thursday of the month from noon to 1 p.m. at Batavia Public Library, 10 S. Batavia Ave.This year’s slate of speakers includes Batavia Mayor Jeff Schielke, who has been a regular for years at the program, along with local authors, officials, historians and more.
“Some people contact us and then I sit down with the library staff and we go over all the dates and then confirm them and that’s how we work each year,” she said. “We have a variety of ways that we get our speakers. As far as the mayor he was our very first speaker when we had it at the Methodist church.”
Average attendance ranges from 40 to 60 guests but can be as many as 100 “for big names or someone local who has a big following,” Hoag said.
