The indictment said that in March 2022, then-Chair Lynn Haueter discovered that she had been removed from the organization’s three bank accounts totaling $13,000 at Wells Fargo Bank at Streigl’s request, according to the Bandera Bulletin. Streigl allegedly presented the bank with a document claiming that Haueter had been censured and directed to relinquish the organization’s websites and financial assets.
That month, Streigl had been elected — having run unopposed — to replace Haueter in the Republican primary, though his term wasn’t to begin until June. Leith had been acting as the Precinct 306 chair, but despite her losing her re-election bid last March, Streigl later named her treasurer.
