Back to the Future's cast documented their latest reunion, and it showed exactly why a remake of Robert Zemeckis' beloved film would be a mistake.
The Back to the Future cast reunited recently, sending fans into nostalgia mode, but their reunion proves a remake of their popular sci-fi film would not be a good thing. Directed by Robert Zemeckis from a screenplay he co-wrote with Bob Gale, Back to the Future saw Marty McFly sent back 30 years to 1955, where his presence in the past threatened his very own existence if he couldn’t reunite his parents so that he could be born.
Much of the dialogue that is remembered from the film is thanks to the actors’ delivery. “Great Scott” could be given to another actor in a potential remake, but it will never live up to Lloyd’s reading of the line. What’s more, the friendship between Fox’s Marty and Lloyd’s Doc Brown cannot be replicated, nor can their onscreen chemistry. On paper, their relationship might not make too much sense, but the actors bring so much to their roles that the camaraderie really pops onscreen.
