Nationally, casino revenues grew to a record $60.4 billion, up 14% over the $53.0 billion in revenues in 2021. Millers said that as casinos reopened following the pandemic, younger people began trying them out and liked what they saw.Despite the proliferation of casino gambling across the country, Atlantic City remained firmly in the No. 2 spot behind Las Vegas.
But sports betting revenue declined to $763 million from $816.8 million in 2021, a drop of 6.5%. The trade group’s vice president for research, David Forman, attributed the decline to neighboring New York state entering the market. Still, New Jersey reported more sports betting revenue than any other state but New York and Illinois.
