On Monday, Anchorage School District hosted its last day of community conversation meetings regarding the district’s proposal to cut, combine, or repurpose schools.
A nearly 50-foot-long fin whale washed up on a beach near the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail in West Anchorage over the weekend. According to National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration biologists, the dead whale was reported to the Alaska Stranding Network late Saturday night. NOAA biologists and members of the Alaska Veterinary Pathology Services went out to the site on Sunday to collect data samples.
