A Utah resident and her mother were driving in Salt Lake City Wednesday night when they reported they saw a person and flames on the steps of the Utah State Capitol building.
The Salt Lake City Fire Department confirmed that with help from Utah Highway Patrol, an adult male was booked into jail on Arson charges in connection to the incident.With the assistance of the UHP, an adult male was booked into the SLCounty Jail on Arson charges in connection with an incident that occurred at the Utah State Capitol last night.— Salt Lake City Fire Department January 12, 2023 Sarah Lowe just moved to Utah and her mother, Lynn Marie Lowe, came for a visit.
"By the time we came back around to the front of the building it appeared that the fire was out but the person was still standing up at the top of the stairs just calmly smoking a cigarette," Lynn Marie said.
