Police said the shooting happened near North Crowdus and Elm streets.
The victim was killed early Sunday morning after being hit at the intersection of West Pioneer Parkway and Center Street.
Police were called at about 2:01 a.m. to the intersection of West Pioneer Parkway and Center Street after reports of the hit-and-run. They found the victim, a 30-year-old man lying in the roadway, where he was pronounced dead, police said. The Civic was found in the 500 block of East Pioneer Parkway with damage consistent with the collision, and multiple bottles of alcohol inside, police said. Witnesses told officers the driver had left the vehicle and ran toward an apartment complex nearby.
