Republicans Juan Ciscomani and Eli Crane, Arizona's freshmen members of Congress, got some plumb committee assignments.
It also conducts impeachment.
Ciscomani in November defeated Democrat Kirsten Engel in Arizona's 6th Congressional District to win a seat left vacant by Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick, D-Ariz., who did not seek reelection. He was one of the candidates who now-House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., recruited to run. Ciscomani this month nominated McCarthy for the speakership in one of the 15 rounds of voting, the longest speaker vote since before the civil war.
