She broke Nolan’s record of 3,971, set in 2009 at the conclusion of her career with the Detroit Shock, the franchise’s previous incarnation before relocating to Oklahoma City and eventually Arlington. The Wings trailed the league-leading Liberty 82-63 when Ogunbowale set the record, thanks to double-digit performances from four members of New York, including 20 from Sabrina Ionescu. Dallas got off to a slow start, scoring just 32 points in the first half to the Liberty’s 50, and couldn’t recover, in part due to shooting struggles. The Wings shot below 40% from the field.
Ogunbowale was drafted fifth overall by the Wings in 2019 after an exemplary college career at Notre Dame and has been a star in the WNBA and the team’s cornerstone ever since. She began her time with the Wings averaging 19.1 points per game in her rookie season, then she improved in her second year to lead the league with 22.8. She has been an All-Star every year since 2021, and was namedOgunbowale currently sits second in the league in point per game with 22.
