25-year-old Tykeisha Lewis died after being shot in the parking lot of the Waffle House at 12304 Dessau Road around 6 a.m. on June 8. She was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced deceased. According to the Austin Police Department, the shooting occurred after an argument between the group Lewis was with and another group of males in the parking lot. The suspects opened fire, striking Lewis and another female. The second victim was also taken to the hospital and is in stable condition.
After the shooting, the male suspects fled the scene. Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact APD's homicide tip line at 512-477-3588 or Crime Stoppers at 512-472-8477.
