We continue to learn new details about a deadly shooting at a northeast Austin H-E-B late last week. The shooter has not been charged, and Austin police say War
ren Owusu is cooperating with the investigation.
it all started at the H-E-B on Canyon Ridge Drive near I-35 and Parmer Lane. Austin Police Detective Bryce Bishop spoke to reporters Wednesday. “Multiple callers indicated that it was a possible active shooter that would eventually prove to not be the case. A caller stated that a subject was shot lifting and lunged at a security guard with a knife, and a caller stated the security guard attempted to tase the subject and then shot him.
APD says the man who was shot is Michael Rosario Junior--- who was reportedly acting erratically and had a knife. “Rosario can be seen through a combination of different video footage and body-worn camera footage acting erratically, appears to be on the influence, under the influence of something,” Bishop said to reporters. Police say there were a lot of bystanders and Owusu asked Rosario to leave the store. “Mr. Owusu proceeded for the next 14 to 15 minutes to try to communicate with Mr.
Rosario was also carrying an H-E-B basket with a hubcap in it--- and took it out to use as a shield. Owusu took out his stun gun and told Rosario to drop the knife. “A knife is displayed from his pocket, and he again gives him multiple commands and loud verbal commands to drop the knife,” said Bishop.
