Anitta shares inspiring story after Mariah Carey follows her on Instagram

As her success continues to grow, so do Brazilian singer Anitta’s Instagram followers and on Sunday , she woke up with an exciting new follower, Mariah Carey. As expected, Anitta was thrilled and honored the pop icon by posting a photo showing her Carey album collection and confessing that Carey is one of the people that inspired her to have a career in music.
“For the ones who don't know, my 2 aunts and my mom were obsessed about [Mariah Carey],” wrote Anitta. “So when I was born I was the best student ever for them and became an even better fan. That's why I started to say I wanted to be a singer so early in life.” For Anitta, watching Carey perform is still a dream come true. “When she came to Brazil, we didn't have money to go to see her. I remember I listen to her concert on the radio crying because I wasn't there.”
