Still, Anchorage's rain totals were nothing compared to the 7 inches that drenched areas near Seward.
ANCHORAGE, Alaska - A trough continues to drive eastward across the state, as showers and cooler weather remain for many areas. The recent stretch of wet weather for Southcentral will catch a break before more rain builds in for the weekend. The heaviest rain will remain near the Aleutians , with gusty winds in the forecast.
Some sunshine can be expected today across western parts of Southcentral, but only for a few short hours. Clouds will be quick to move in this evening, with the return to widespread rain Saturday into Sunday. Many areas across Southcentral could likely see an additional 1 to 3 inches of rain. Should Anchorage manage to see up to an inch of rain by the end of the day Sunday, this will be the wettest year on record through August 11th and the wettest August on record.
Western Alaska will continue to see showery weather, with highs in the 50s. While heavy rain doesn’t look likely for many areas, Southwest will see increased activity through the evening hours. This comes as the wave of rain pushing through the Aleutians begins its journey eastward, eventually impacting Southcentral and Southeast.Widespread heavy rain and windy conditions are expected today.
