The office of the ombudsman said Wednesday that there was no political motivation behind the timing of the release of a scathing report issuing decisions on several critical allegations from within the Bronson administration.

Hess also said in an interview with Alaska’s News Source on Wednesday that the original plan was to release the report in early February. “First of all, thank God we have an ombudsman’s office, we have checks and balances,” said Tuck. “This is an example of why people are losing faith in our government — because we have a lot of activity that isn’t noble and isn’t being professionally served.
“There’s an old adage that great leaders take responsibility for their mistakes, and poor leaders tend to either deny their mistakes or blame them on others,” Popp said, also stating that he was “disappointed” to see that such behavior was happening inside of City Hall. Suzanne LaFrance, who previously served as Anchorage Assembly chair, responded to the question of whether or not the timing of the release of the report seemed politically motivated only by calling the situation in general “an issue of accountability.”
In a response to a request for an interview, and separate from the Office of Mayor Dave Bronson, Bronson’s election campaign team provided a prepared statement Wednesday stating in part that it didn’t have comment specific to the report itself.
