Ammonia can also be used as a fuel for fuel cells or combustion engines, producing only nitrogen and water as emissions.

As electric vehicles become more popular, some researchers are looking at alternative ways to power transportation using hydrogen, a clean and efficient fuel that produces only water when burned. So how does ammonia come into the scene?some challenges regarding storage and transport, as it requires high-pressure and low-temperature conditions. That’s why some experts consider ammonia, a compound containing hydrogen, as a potential solution., which offer high energy density and long lifespan.

In such a situation, ammonia emerges as a promising alternative clean fuel. Ammonia is a compound that consists of one nitrogen atom and three hydrogen atoms. It can be produced from renewable sources such as solar, wind, or hydropower, and it can store and transport hydrogen more efficiently than pure hydrogen. Ammonia is not easy to burn by itself, and it usually needs to be mixed with gasoline to achieve good combustion.

To study the effect of swirling flow, the researchers used an optical single-cylinder diesel engine with a glass cylinder and piston. They also used two types of intake ports: tangential and helical. The researchers experimented with different combinations of intake port openings, keeping the spiral port fully open and varying the tangential port from 0% to 100%.
