An American Airlines regional jetliner arriving from Wichita, Kansas, collided midair with a military helicopter near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport , officials said. The PSA Airlines Bombardier CRJ700 regional jetliner, carrying 64 people, struck a Sikorsky H-60 helicopter while approaching Runway 33 at the airport around 9 p.m. ET on Wednesday. PSA Airlines is a wholly owned subsidiary of American Airlines .

\American Airlines expressed concern for the passengers and crew involved, stating they were in contact with authorities and assisting with emergency response efforts.
