Amazon created 6 'tenets' during talks with Starbucks about a new cashierless coffee shop, internal document shows

Tenets are a key part of Amazon's discussion process, often described as the foundational elements of any new business proposal.
The tenets for the Starbucks partnership emphasized a"seamless customer experience" and"differentiation" that delivers a"wow" factor, the document shows. The others were"technology innovation,""speed and scale,""flexibility," and"operational efficiency." "Our go-to-market store format needs to deliver a 'wow' CX and exceed customer expectations with a progressive industry leading store format," one of the tenets said.
The new store would put Amazon Go's food section in a cafe with a lounge seating area similar to Starbucks' coffee shops, according to the internal document. It would offer Starbucks' beverages and Amazon's assortment of baked goods and hot foods, and customers wouldn't have to wait in line to check out.
It's unclear whether the project is still in the works. Discussions were active until at least July 2020, the document said, but the companies failed to open a planned proof-of-concept store in the fourth quarter of 2020. Still, the new store was a"top ten initiative for Starbucks," as of June 2020, as it aligned with the company's drive to double down on pickup orders and eliminate lines, the document said.
