Delayne Maple and Avry Tatum attended Torrey Pines and La Costa Canyon before ending up as Hoosiers
Maple found it at USC, winning four NCAA Beach Volleyball championships and twice earning All-America honors.
Maple said she “had a hard time figuring out what to do postgraduate” before choosing IU as a graduate transfer. “As an older player, the coaches asked me to be a leader. And I was a little nervous. It’s still volleyball, but the training is different. The strategy is different. But it has been a blast. I’m so happy I came here.”
“I grew up in a sports world,” Tatum said. “My dad played football. My mother played volleyball and basketball. There was always a game on TV at our house, so staying in sports is a logical next step for me.” Connecticut Sun guard DiJonai Carrington is named the 2024 WNBA Most Improved player before a first-round WNBA basketball playoff game, Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2024, in Uncasville, Conn. was named the Most Improved Player in the WNBA this season.
