All the Halifax and Lloyds branches set to close - including two in Greater Manchester
Lloyds Banking Group, which owns both banking operators, will close 18 Halifax sites and 22 Lloyds branches between April and June this year. It comes as 64 high street bank closures have already been announced since the beginning of the year, affecting Barclays and TSB locations among others.
Lloyds Banking Group said the branches to be closed have seen the number of visits drop by about 60 per cent on average in the last five years. A spokesman said: “Branches play an important part in our strategy but we need to have them in the right places, where they are well-used. We’ll continue to invest in branches that are being used regularly, alongside our online, mobile app and telephone services.
