Captain America's strong moral values resulted in clashes with his Avengers co-leader Iron Man. However, that's what makes him key into Tony as a character and a hero. Since they come from opposite ends of the spectrum in many things, coming together means that they are able to balance each other out. Beyond the inner dynamic of the Avengers, Steve functions as the quintessential hero — the ideal that everyone aspires to be.
