Screenwriters represented by the WGA have been on strike even longer, since May.
Both unions have expressed concerns about issues including streaming residuals, job security, and the use of A.I. technology in TV and filmmaking. The studios, meanwhile, are facing such challenges as changing viewing habits, continued fallout from the pandemic, and pressure from Wall Street.
