Ali Stroker's Tony Award was only Broadway's 1st step to disability inclusivity

“For the [theatre] houses where all the audience comes in, that is all made accessible,” Stroker shared to the press in the media room later that night.”But the backstages are not. So I would ask theatre owners and producers to really look into how they can make the backstage accessible so that performers with disabilities can get around.”
It says a lot that it has taken the Tony Awards 73 years even to nominate a performer who uses a wheelchair for one of its awards. Stroker also made history in 2015 when she became the first Broadway actor who used a wheelchair when she was cast in “Spring Awakening,”
