Report: Alamo Bowl loses appeal to select Texas Longhornd, Oklahoma Sooners for future games
There won’t be any more late-December trips down to San Antonio for the Texas Longhorns and Oklahoma Sooners . The Alamo Bowl attempted to keep those two high-profile programs in its selection pool for the next two seasons even as they leave prepare to leave the Big 12 and join the SEC this summer.
According to McMurphy’s sources, the “Alamo Bowl wanted to replace its Pac-12 team with either Texas or Oklahoma, setting up a matchup between UT or OU against a Big 12 team.” The Longhorns and Sooners would have remained available if they did not quality for the College Football Playoff in the next two seasons. Both schools, along with the SEC and its current bowl affiliates, railed against the Alamo Bowl’s appeal.
