“I didn’t really say anybody did anything wrong. …” Saban said before a reporter interrupted him and responded, “Well, you said they bought their entire recruiting class.” Saban, who didn’t appear as cocksure of himself as usual, ducked and dodged a few arrows early Tuesday during a visit with reporters and then pressed on with what he said was his real issue: trying to make things fair across the board on the NIL front.
“ we need to make sure that we have a uniform way to have equitable competition, that it’s transparent and protects the student-athlete. ... Boosters have never been involved in recruiting and, hopefully, we’ll not allow that to happen …”
