The Alabama Medical Cannabis Commission is in the middle of multiple lawsuits.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Alabama Medical Cannabis Commission was back in court Tuesday. The commission is in theover its business licensing process and over possible violations of Alabama’s Open Meetings Act.

Will Somerville, an attorney for Alabama Always, says they offered a plan but didn’t hear back from the state. But Somerville says an expected ruling on another case could impact their own. He said Verano, one of the nation’s largest medical cannabis companies, had filed a complaint asking the court to direct the commission to issue a license that was awarded to Verano in June.

“I think it helps our case because it means that the commission had the authority to rescind the license awards that it made in June, and then implicitly the ones that it made in August as well,” said Somerville.
