Lee Bains III & the Glory Fires’ latest album “Old-Time Folks” landed the No. 77 spot on the list, in between Giveon’s “Give or Take” and Latto’s “777″ .“Beyoncé's dance-music ecstasy, Bad Bunny’s latest world-conquering smash, Taylor Swift’s late nights, Harry Styles’ song cycle, and Pusha T’s master class in metaphor were only some of the albums that ruled our world this year,” the story’s sub-head reads.
“When Atlanta-via-Alabama punk singer-songwriter Lee Bains set out to make fourth album, he was intent on making it his most accessible collection yet: more sing-along choruses, slower than his typical breakneck tempos, sweeping melodies that, this time around, invoked Bob Seger more than Fugazi,” wrote Rolling Stone’sBernstein called the album Bains’ “richest and deepest set of history-meets-present story-songs of Bains’ career,” singling out tunes like “Rednecks,” and the title track.
