The Akron-Summit Council on Holocaust & Genocide Education is hosting the 37th annual youth arts and writing contest continue to expand Holocaust and genocide awareness and education.AKRON, Ohio – The Akron-Summit Council on Holocaust & Genocide Education will host the 37th annual youth arts and writing contest.

The contest is open to students in grades 6-12 who live or attend school in Summit County. Students may submit written and/or visual art. This year’s contest is -- Lessons of the Holocaust: Countering Discrimination, Apathy and Denial. Winners will be chosen based on interpretation of the contest theme, connection to the Holocaust, technique, originality and use of proper reference sources, according to a news release. Winning pieces will be displayed in an exhibit at the Akron-Summit County Main Library from March 31 to April 30, 2025, and

First, second, third and fourth place winners in each of the four contest categories will receive a Visa gift card prize. Both the Arts and the Writing Contest have Division I and Division II . The teacher of each first-place winner will also receive a gift card prize to use toward their efforts teaching about the Holocaust and other genocides, according to the release.The contest will culminate in a Holocaust commemoration and awards ceremony on April 24, 2025 from 6-7:30 p.m.
