EXCLUSIVE: Ahsoka voice actor Ashley Eckstein calls on StarWars to campaign for her live-action casting as High Republic Jedi Avar Kriss 👀 'If the fans want to ask for me to play this character, that would be incredible.' 🙌
Ashley Eckstein, the original voice actor of the beloved Star Wars character Ahsoka Tano, expresses interest in making the jump into a live-action role within the massive science-fiction fantasy franchise. Eckstein first began her career as a television actor appearing in such shows as That's So Raven, Blue Collar TV, and That 70's Show.
When Ahsoka was first introduced in The Clone Wars film, she was not well-received by critics and the Star Wars community. However, as The Clone Wars series grew, so did Ahsoka as a character. She was used a tool by the writers to challenge the Jedi Order, and through her lack of precedent in the Star Wars franchise, she developed into one of the more nuanced characters in the entire show.
The fans have pointed this out. I'll be honest, I read about how Rosario was fancast as Ahsoka; how the fans started asking for her to play Ahsoka. If the fans want to ask for me to play this character, that would be incredible. I would be honored to make the jump to live-action for the High Republic. Hey, it worked for Ahsoka. Maybe it will work for me to be in The High Republic! [...] I would love it. You heard it here first.
Avar Kriss is a Jedi Master that lived during the High Republic era, a 200-year period of peace that was deemed a golden age for the Jedi Order. Eckstein appears to bear a striking resemblance to artist renditions of the High Republic Jedi, particularly the character's bright, golden hair.
Although Kriss may not feature in The Acolyte, Eckstein can still feature in a live-action Star Wars role. Ahsoka's longtime voice actor has been a part of the Star Wars community for nearly a decade and a half, and has yet to appear in any live-action capacity within the franchise. Even her The Clone Wars co-star Matt Lanter, who voiced Anakin Skywalker, made a cameo appearance in an episode of The Mandalorian.
