Flood watch is out for Fayette, Lee and Milam County from Sunday night until Tuesday morning. Heavy rain could lead to flooding.Beryl could bring tropical storm winds and gusts to Fayette County points south and east. Wind damage and power outage risk.Acting Governor Dan Patrick and Texas Division of Emergency Management Chief Nim Kidd ask Texans to prepare Sunday ahead of Hurricane Beryl's landfall.
"Property can be rebuilt, but lives cannot be,” Patrick said. "This storm has already left nine deaths in its path through the Caribbean. We don't want number ten to be in Texas." For the coastal communities, acting Governor Patrick says he's concerned about the additional people there on vacation, who may not be in their normal routine of watching the news or getting updates about what's happening.
"You don't want to be in a category one. You're looking at winds at 85-90 miles an hour. You don't want to be in that,” Patrick said. “You don't want to be in six to 12 inches of rain, you don't want to be in flooding."Chief Nim Kidd says there will be power outages... and people using generators need to do so properly due to the deadly risk of carbon monoxide poisoning.
