Three key figures of the three-time World Series champion Swingin’ A’s will be honored by the team in August.
Swingin’ A’s stars Ray Fosse, Sal Bando and Joe Rudi now have a date for their induction into the Athletics Hall of Fame.
Fosse, who was a color commentator for the A’s radio and TV broadcast teams from 1986 through last season, died of cancer last October. Bando has been waiting a long time for his induction and will get it 46 years after he played his last game in green and gold. “Captain Sal” manned third base for the Swingin’ A’s of the early 1970s and helped lead the team to three consecutive World Series titles between ’72 and ’74.
Rudi, a three-time All-Star and three-time Gold Glove winner, was also a key figure in the outfield of those Swingin’ A’s World Series teams.
