The company said the FDA previously granted the drug fast-track designation, which it “hopes will help streamline the emergency use authorization process,” the company said in the statement. The study — conducted in the U.S., Brazil, Colombia, Argentina, Mexico and Bulgaria — involved roughly 210 hospitalized COVID-19 patients suffering from moderate to severe illness who were at high risk for ARDS and death.
The company believes sabizabulin could be a game-changer come the fall and winter, when the pandemic is expected to once again ramp up.
