is truly the gift that keeps on giving, almost twenty years after its release. After creating a TikTok inspired by one of the most iconic scenes in the film as part of her club election campaign, one high school student from North Carolina went viral — and ended up winning the race.
With the help of a few of her friends, Saniya filmed the entire TikTok on a Monday, after asking one of her teachers if she could film in the hallway during class. The video includes 16 of her classmates sharing“Saniya got her license, so I got my license,” one student says from behind the wheel of their car in the school's parking lot. “Saniya runs track, so I'm going to run track, too," says another before running off into the distance.
-themed campaign video was more than effective — not only did she end up winning the election, but her school counselor had to manually filter the online ballot because the voting form was being inundated with voters from TikTok.
