San Marcos is in the early stages of planning a 'transformational' project to build a new city hall surrounded by mixed-use development along a busy road that links Interstate 35 with the city's historic downtown.

Searchable map shows who owns every property in the state The city would construct a new city hall — preliminary plans have it at about 85,000 square feet — on four acres on the north side of Hopkins, across from the nearly 50-year-old current city hall, according to a presentation that city staff made to the San Marcos City Council earlier this year. 'I think that it is going to be an asset to the city,' Mayor Jane Hughson said in a phone interview.
A Hill Country nature preserve is growing by more than 600 acres Caffrey was recently selected as the new city manager of Des Moines, Washington. She will be stepping down as project director in October and 'no final decisions' have been made about a successor, Lauren Surley, a spokesperson for the city of San Marcos, said in an email. 'The project will continue to move forward, and we are committed to maintaining momentum,' she said. The cost has yet to be determined.
