As people return home on the roads and across the passes after the Thanksgiving holiday, wind, rain, sleet, and yes, possible snow could impact commutes around Puget Sound this week.
There is a slight chance of snow in the metro areas Monday morning before 8 a.m.Tuesday, the NWS reports a chance of snow showers between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. with a high of 39-degrees.
As is normally the case, the closer you get to the mountains, the more likely you will be dealing with snowy conditions. KIRO 7 TV meteorologist Frankie Katafias says a strong weather system is moving into the area overnight.Katafias says sea-level snow is possible this week.Weatherspark.com , the snowy period of the year in Seattle is historically only 5-6 weeks from mid-December to late January.
The month with the most snow in the metro area is January, with an average snowfall of 1.2 inches. The snowless period of the year lasts for 11 months, from January 20 to December 12.
